Two castles Niedzica and Czorsztyn

Two castles built on opposite shores of the Czorsztyńskie Lake - such an attraction does not happen often. Majestically located fortresses, formerly guarding people, now stand proudly on the shores of the Czorsztyńskie waters. Although they are separated by the lake - they have a lot in common: extraordinary stories, legends, and boat cruises between the castles.
The castle in Czorsztyn is the ruins of a defensive castle, whose establishment dates back to the second half of the 13th century. The mountain fortress, built from local stone, proudly looks out over the waters of the formed lake. The restored parts of the castle with permanent exhibition are open to visitors. From the terraces of the upper castle there is an interesting panorama of the Czorsztyn Reservoir, the Pieniny Spiskie and the Tatra Mountains. From the windows of Baranowski Tower one can admire the panorama of Podhale, Gorce and a fragment of Pieniny Czorsztyńskie. The castle in Niedzica, erected between 1320 and 1330, was supposed to guard the Polish-Hungarian trade treaty. Today, almost intact, it hides many secrets and legends about Inca treasures. The museum exhibition presents the history of the Spiš region, interiors with 16th century exhibits. The chambers, courtyard, castle dungeons and torture chamber are open to the public.
